Message I posted no lies about your machine shop.

"I had mentioned earlier my concern that this particular machine shop had consistently turned out motors that experienced rod knock." <------ That is a lie

You also stated the same thing in your Email to me *after* all the things were posted on the forum. If that is NOT a lie....prove to me that they have turned out even *1* motor that has produced a rod knock due to their error.

Fred is part owner in your shop and I am familiar with your financial history; of course you took care of that.

Actually during that ordeal with TEC is was nothing more then a customer. It was because of the way we treated him and took care of the problem that he became an extremely loyal customer and in time became part of SGP. But just FYI...he is not a part owner.

The issue with Mike's motor deal is this:
:1). You didn't tell him. That should have been your first step. If you felt that giving him new parts was such a plus, you and I both know you would have told him he had new parts.

The reason he was not told was because the car was never delivered to him. It was never in his possession. We corrected the problem before he was even aware that his car was running. That problem with the crank occured within the first 100 miles of the car being driven and we took the motor out and fixed it over a weekend. So basically there was no need to tell him at the time. I guess I could have bragged to him about it but I look at it as something that had to be done...so it was no big deal to us and no reason to worry him about it.

Also, if Mike got new parts someone who paid for new parts got old parts. (This is the main reason I paid you $210 to disassemble the motor so I could verify that it was mine).

THAT is 100% FALSE!!!! I am sure someone remembers the *used* short block I had for sale in the for sale section for some time. That was Mike's/your old used parts. I sold that short block for $2000 instead of the usual $2700. The customer that paid for the *new* short block had another *new* short block built in 3 days.

2). You did the motor in two days. Mike did not take the motor back to Austin to put 1,000 miles on it (as you posted earlier), we took it straight to the dyno and tuned it in. That motor was fresh and saw big boost and high rpms on the dyno.

You are correct. Mike let me break it in with 1000 miles before we scheduled the dyno time and before he took it back to Austin. And yes it did see high boost and high HP numbers on two different occasions.

I will be getting the full scoop on the cause of the bearing failure, the machine shop will start working on that next week. At this point, I can only confirm that it was not detonation.

Good I am anxious to find out exactly what happened so I can use the information for future engine builds. Oh and I am sure it wasn't detonation either.

My question is this: If I didn't abuse the motor, broke it in correctly, etc., and it knocked after 7 pulls, what possible question could you have in your mind that it could be anything other than a machine shop error????

There are many things that cause rod bearing failure. Detonation and machine shop error are only two of several things. There are other things that were done on your part that concern me. Again....an email from several weeks ago will be cut and posted once the pictures are posted.
